Online Counseling

While in-person sessions are available in Davie, FL the bulk of my practice is online-based counseling serving people who live in New Jersey and Florida.

  • Have you been wanting to begin counseling but the logistics of obtaining childcare for small children has created a barrier to services?
  • Are you living in a small town and afraid your privacy will be jeopardized by running into someone you know in a therapist’s office?
  • Would you rather not have to commute or deal with traffic getting to an appointment?

Benefits of Online Counseling

telemental health certifiedOnline counseling is an effective and convenient way to access mental health services, eliminating geographic constraints and scheduling appointments at times that are convenient for you. However, it is not the best choice for everyone. If you prefer an in-person appointment, I offer sessions in South Florida.

Your privacy is my utmost concern. Receiving counseling in an online setting can provide you with privacy, flexibility, and convenience that an in-office setting cannot. I have researched various online platforms that I feel will maintain your confidentiality. You may be aware of many therapists who utilize Skype, zoom, or Facetime. If you are looking for a credible and ethical therapist, I would suggest you look for someone who utilizes a secure online platform and has training in online/distance counseling, which I have.

Logistics utilizes WebRTC (Real Time Communication) to deliver video, audio, and chat. Fortunately, if you are already using Chrome or Firefox then WebRTC is already on your computer, which means you do not need to download new software. Pretty simple! There is also an app to use on a mobile device that many of my clients have used.

  • works in Chrome, Mozilla, Safari, Edge
  • No need to create a patient account. Simply use the personalized URL link that I send to you.
  • Check-in for your appointment in a virtual waiting room. Only I can see when you arrive.
  • is HIPAA secure so your privacy is maintained.
  • End-to-end encryption and identifying information are never recorded.
  • Communication goes from you to me, not through

So how does online counseling differ compared to an office setting? Surprisingly little! The same rules of social graces still apply. If you wouldn’t do it in an office setting, then you wouldn’t do it during an online session either. For instance, you wouldn’t bring dinner to your therapy appointment so conversely you wouldn’t eat during your online session. Therapy, whether online or in an office setting, needs to be conducted in a room with 4 walls and a closed door.

Evidence is mounting that online counseling is just as effective as in-person counseling. In fact, you may even feel more comfortable and relaxed in the comfort of your own home or office.
